UAM will be offering two EAST scholarships, beginning in the fall of 2008. These are for up to 15 academic hours of credit per semester. The priority deadline will be March 1 each year. However, because of the late notice, the deadline was extended to April 10 this year. To be eligible for consideration each high school senior must provide: proof of at least 2 years of active involvement in a recognized high school EAST program; have a minimum 3.00 grade point average; have a minimum 19 ACT composite; and provide 2 letters of reference regarding EAST service and performance. The award will begin the first fall term, immediately following high school graduation, and is renewable for a total of 8 semesters(four years), pending completion of at least 12 academic hours per term, with at least a 3.00 grade point average. In addition, each recipient must provide voluntary assistance in the Information Technology Department or Spatial Analysis Laboratory on campus for a minimum of 10 hours per week each semester the award is made.
