The award will begin the first fall term, immediately following high school graduation, and is renewable for a total of 8 semesters(four years), pending completion of at least 12 academic hours per term, with at least a 3.00 grade point average. Arkansas Service Memorial Scholarships

Arkansas students whose parents have died in service to their community, the state of Arkansas or the nation to are encouraged to apply for the Arkansas Service Memorial Scholarships, which average around $2,500 per year. The scholarships are funded by income from the Arkansas Service Memorial Fund, an endowment fund created in the mid-eighties at Arkansas Community Foundation largely through the fundraising efforts of Sheffield Nelson.

To receive an application, contact Margaret Birdsong of the Arkansas Community Foundation at 501-372-1116 or by email at mbirdsong@arcf.org. May 1 is the priority deadline for applications for Arkansas Community Foundation scholarship awards for Arkansas students. Since 1984, income from the fund has provided 125 scholarships totaling over $150,000. Henderson State University, Southern Arkansas University, The University of the Ozarks and the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) will match the scholarship up to cost of enrollment for a qualified student.
